Udaipur

Udaipur is known to be the Kashmir of Rajasthan., located on the banks of river Pichola. Udaipur is a city that offers a visitor picturesque view of the prosperous palaces, ornamented temples and azure lakes. Situated 200 miles (320km) southwest of Jaipur, Udaipur is undoubtedly the most romantic city in Rajasthan. the city is also the hub of performing arts, painting and crafts. The city is an amalgam of tradition and modernity and is responsible for inspiring poets and writers. Originally there were eleven gates of the Udaipur City,but today only five remain. The main entrance to the city is through the Suraj Pol or the Sun Gate.









Delightful Sights:
» City Palace: Udaipur is unimaginable without this opulent palace. The City Palace stands majestically on the shores of Pichola. The entry to the city palace is through the Elephant Gate, Hati Pol. Made by the Maharanas, a section of the palace has been converted into a luxury hotel.

» Saheliyon ki Bari: Also known as the Garden of the Maids of Honour, is a garden ornamented with fountains, sculptures and small pool.

Is considered the jewel in the crown of Udaipur. The Lake Palace rises from the calm Lake Pichola. Successive rulers used the cool haven as a summer resort, but later it was converted into a luxury hotel.

» Fateh Sagar: A beautiful lake,is a favorite spot for the tourists where they can enjoy a boat ride.

» Sajjan Garh: The palace of Sajjangarh offers a comprehensive overview of the entire city and the surrounding countryside.

» Gulab Bagh: A spectacular rose garden laid out by Maharana Sajjan Singh. A library in the garden has a rare collection of ancient handwritten manuscripts and books
Shopping Fever:
Udaipur is the right place for buying local handicrafts that exhibit the special craftsmanship and unique style of the area. The Rajput Mughal style miniature paintings are extremely popular here. The main shopping areas are Hathipol, Chetak Circle, Clock Tower, Palace Road, Bapu Bazaar and City Market. The Rajasthan Government Handicraft Emporium is a shopper's delight. Wall hangings and paintings on cloth are popular all over the world.

Climate:
Summer and winters remain moderate with little of the sharp variations common to seasonal temperatures in Rajasthan. Summer temperatures rise to a moderate (for Rajasthan) 38°/39° C and a minimum of 28° C. Winter temperatures remain at a pleasant 28.3°C with lows of 11.6° C during the coldest spell.

Travel To Udaipur:
» By Air: Udaipur is well connected to all the major cities which includes Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Jodhpur, Jaipur.

» By Bus: Rajasthan Roadways run very comfortable deluxe & air conditioned buses from Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad to Udaipur. The roads are very good, and it takes around 8-9 hr. from Jaipur. You can also come by taxi from Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

» By Train: Udaipur is connected to many major cities of India. There are daily trains from Delhi,

» Jaipur:The best train between Delhi and Udaipur, the daily Chetak Express. Trains take around 12 Hrs from Jaipur to Udaipur.
